Farewell from the Arise! Books & Resources Collective

Arise! closed for business on Saturday, May 15th. The store was bustling with people throughout the day and late into the evening as people came to enjoy an awesome bonfire to celebrate our successes as a collectively run project since 1993 and to bid farewell as the space and the people involved in the collective move on to new and different things. Thanks to all the community support, our last week of business was a smashing success for helping us reach our goal of paying off our outstanding debts to distributors, most of which are small presses and other collectives.

Going-Out-of-Business Sale May 8-15

* When: Saturday, May 8 through Saturday, May 15 *

Discounts start at 30% off and will increase throughout the week. Furniture, shelves, etc. will be for sale too!

After serving the community since 1993, Arise! must close its doors on May 15th. Stop by during our last week of operations for a massive clearance sale. We need to pay off our debts so we can close the store in a responsible, ethical manner without harming the small presses, distributors, and collectives that have supplied us with so many great resources over the years.

Clearance Sale on Sat., April 3rd!

Arise! will be closing on May 15th. After serving the Twin Cities communities since 1993, we can no longer sustain the space we're in and have to close our doors.

Saturday, April 3
11am-9pm

20% off all regularly priced items. 30% off select books.

Come stock up on all those things you've been wanting to take home with you! Books, zines, shirts, crafts, CDs, patches, organizers, DVDs, and more!

Sunday! Next Collective Meeting & Community Space Organizing Meeting!

Arise! has been going through rough times (for real!) and will be closing in the near future. At our next collective meeting, we'll be talking about the things we need to do to close down our space: clearance sales, cleaning it up, communicating with the local and national communities that have relied on us, taking care of our debts to distributors (e.g., Slingshot), etc. We'll also be talking about a closing date, our open hours from now until we close, help with covering shifts, etc. And anything else we think of at the time.

Next Meeting:
Sunday, February 28

After 2 recent community meetings and much discussion, it's become apparent that a radical new direction is needed for Arise to survive. With much money owed to book distributors and an impending several thousand dollars of debt (mostly from property taxes looming on May 15), it is extremely likely that Arise must move if it is going to survive in whatever form.

After being in our current location since 1993, the Arise! Books and Resources Collective has come to the painful realization that we can no longer afford to operate in this space. Rather than letting the awful realities of capitalism tear us apart, we want to figure out a way to arise anew. A new form. A new location. A new way to continue serving and being part of the radical and progressive community in the Twin Cities.
