Join Rose Brewer, co-author of The Color of Wealth: The Story Behind the U.S. Racial Wealth Divide, for a talk about the increasing racial gap in wealth in the United States. Come find out why, more than 35 years after the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., America has failed to make significant progress toward closing the economic gap between blacks and whites. Rose Brewer, PhD is Associate Professor and Morse Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor of African American & African Studies at the University of Minnesota. She has published widely in the areas of the intersection of economy, culture, and Black family life; Black women's studies; race, class, and gender; social transformation; and critical theory. In 2004 she received the Josie H. Johnson Social Justice Award from the University of Minnesota. "This book shows how class and race intersect and suggests that economic and racial inequality are so intertwined that only a double assault on both can bring justice to an unjust society." —Howard Zinn |
