Universal Health Care Action Network of Minnesota (UHCAN-MN) and Arise! are co-hosting low-cost health screenings and a showing of Michael Moore's Sicko, a documentary on the state of America's healthcare system. The movie is free to all, but donations are appreciated.

Health screenings start at 4 p.m. Movie at 5 p.m. Discussion about the movie, the healthcare situation, and options for staying healthy at 7 p.m.

Several health screening options are available from trained medical professionals who volunteer their time:

1) Total cholesterol + glucose + blood pressure & pulse tests. This option does NOT require fasting and involves a simple finger stick, results using the Cholestech instrument in 5 minutes. The Cholestech measuring instrument used is accurate and used by many medical clinics and hospitals. $12 per person.

2) Total cholesterol + HDL-cholesterol + glucose + blood pressure & pulse tests. This option is also NON-fasting and completed in 5 minutes. $16 per person.

3) Entire lipid panel (Total cholesterol + LDL- cholesterol + HDL- cholesterol + triglycerides + glucose) + blood pressure & pulse tests. The lipid panel must be carried out after fasting for 12 hours. $25 per person.

4) Liver function tests measuring AST and ALT liver enzymes at baseline. These tests monitor therapy of potentially liver-toxic medications. $15 per person.
